One Proud Mom!

Every fall and spring, Camber's Elementary school has the Boyd Fun Run.  This is a one-mile race that the kids compete in.  They race against everyone else in their grade, boys and girls.  Well last fall was Camber's first race and she did good, but came in about 80th place overall.  So needless to say I was SHOCKED and SUPER PROUD of her when she ran her little heart out today and placed 16th overall and got 3rd place out of all the girls in second grade!!!!  She had told me a couple of days ago that she just wanted to do better than she did last time.  I told her she not only made her goal, she crushed it.  I am so proud of her.  She ran the whole way and never stopped.  She also was the recipient of her very first real stomach cramp!  But in the end she said it was worth it to win the medal and get to be on the medal stand!  Good Job Pumpkin!  I am so proud of you for setting a goal and being determined enough to accomplish it! Who knows... maybe you will take after me and be a runner... Not that I ever did long distances.... I don't know who you get that from!

Coming into the finishing gate!

Easter Sunday

Our Easter was really nice this year.  We started the day with attending church.  Camber and I were surprised to find out Chad was speaking when we got there!  He hadn't told us, but he did a really nice job.  He talked about how just like Christmas, we need to remember the true meaning of Easter.  It isn't the new dresses, Easter Bunny, or Candy... it is celebrating the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior.  I for one am very grateful for that sacrifice and hope we can all remember what our Brother and Savior did for us..
Our Beautiful girl in her new dress!

We spent the rest of the day at Jason and Tristi's house having an egg hunt, a delicious dinner, and enjoying the company of our family.  Even though it was cold and about to rain, everyone had fun with the egg hunt.  I was just excited that we actually had green grass in the pictures and not yellow-dead grass or snow!
Is my husband the only one that never will smile for a picture?

Cousins! Jaci, Camber, Tanner, Riley, Emily, and Kaylie. It seemed like a small group of kids this year... We missed Tyler and Makensie who were both celebrating with their Dad's.

Easter Projects

Camber and I kept very busy last Saturday doing many Easter Projects.  She wanted to make bunnies for her cousins, we baked Resurrection Rolls, and of course dyed eggs.  It was really fun.  I am sure you are wondering what a Resurrection Roll is... Well we learned how to make them at our Primary Easter Party.  What you do is take Pillsbury Crescent Roll dough and wrap it around a giant marshmallow,. sealing the edges.  Then you dip it in melted butter and then in a cinnamon & sugar.  Next you place them in muffin tins and bake according to the package directions.  During cooking, the marshmallow melts, leaving the roll hollow.  The lesson that the children were taught is... The marshmallow represented Jesus body that was laid in the tomb, and when they are done, the hollow roll represents that Jesus body was gone and that the tomb was found empty.  Kind of a fun way to explain the Resurrection to children and the rolls are really yummy too!  All in all, it was great to have some Mom and Camber time working on projects!
